After dropping out of beauty school at just 19 due to an unfortunate bleaching incident, Dave went from mixing hair tints to developing his passion for music by mixing beats on his decks.
Thus Beauty School Dropout was born- A self taught DJ, BSDO terrorised his country town neighbours, before stirring crowds with a regular spot at the Blue Arrow in the state's Southwest. After moving to Perth, Dave met another enthusiastic reveler and the Nyquist Freqs were born. They rode the rollercoaster of success for 2 years, even being nominated in the top 10 DJs in WA in the ITM Top50 awards.
After wooing the crowd at Breakfest in 2007, the ‘Drop Out secured himself a spot in Boomtick’s list of DJs and then a nominations for Best Breaks DJ in the 2008 Perth Dance Music Awards and can now be seen every other week at Ambar.

Tone began his DJ career in the small trance clubs of Singapore in 1997, progressing upon returning to Perth to a residency at the Spirit Soundbar and many guest appearances at the fledgling ‘backbeat’ breaks night, as well as Geisha Bar, the Mustang Bar, o2 (now Rise) and the Babylon Hotel (now the Balmoral). He was then picked from a group of Perth DJs to play the millennium New Year’s Eve on mainland China, one of the first groups of western DJs to do so. Refining the breaks/house sound, he was picked up as a resident for the Cottesloe Beach Hotel VIP room, as well as Ambar which opened in 2000. After playing the opening night, Tone still plays there to this day.
