Drum n Bass Pioneer Moves House

When DJ Zinc burst onto the UK dance scene with his jump up jungle floor filler Super Sharp Shooter, the music world changed for the better. This rude bass wobbler was just the start of DJ Zinc stamping his mark on the broken beat soundscape’s of drum and bass, two step and breaks, following up with monster hits, Trek 174 and Trek 134.

In 2007, Zinc decided to stop playing drum and bass and change direction “disenchanted by a lack of originality in the sound,” to 4/4 and house. Taking 2008 off, Zinc worked away in the studio, redefining a new sound for himself, the result being a new EP and a sub genre that needed a name.

Drinking with MC Dynamite in Nagoya, Japan, a sign above the bar they were in gave Zinc the name that defined his sound from the masses of sub genres in the house family, CRACK HOUSE.

DJ Zinc’s Crack House EP, out on Bingo Bass, takes brutal basslines and meshes them with them with a 4/4 framework to give a darker sound than the current UK Funky fare moving through the UK club scene at the moment.

DJ Zinc will be showcasing his new Crack House sound at Ambar on Friday 14 May 2010
